MAKE THE SILK WEDDING
FLOWER DECISION FOR MUCH MORE CHOICE

Prepare to be amazed
How does one ever know which items should be
matched and those not, when planning your
wedding if the groom has a
heather or
thistle buttonhole should the best man and
groomsmen have the same
buttonhole? Yes, definitely match the dads
and children’s
buttonholes too. The
brides bouquet, bridesmaid and
children’s posies,
hoops, flowerball,
wands, bridal party
corsages and
baskets should all link in with the main
theme.
The
grooms buttonhole should always have a
flower from the
brides bouquet (See the
traditions page to understand why)
Mother of the brides corsage needs to be
extra special with pearls and glitz, this can
match either her outfit or her daughters theme
but should always be the best corsage among the
family ladies and guests, Mother of the groom
equally special but can match her own outfit or
some tartan etc to match her son’s kilt.
When it comes to
table decoration,
favours,
hire packages these should all tie in with
theme and/or colour,
cake-tops too are a personal choice whether
you have the tiny
bride & groom cake-top or thistle cake-top
the choice of cake decoration is immense but
should at least match in some area, even if it
is
tartan ribbon this can be put round the cake
boards and or the cake to take in the clan
choice of the grooms kilt.
Another question? Whether to supply a
buttonhole and/or ladies corsage for every
guest, this is a personal choice area finances
may make this difficult, however if finances
permit then Yes, one can purchase a nice colour
co-ordinated economy rose, plain for male and a
bit of ribbon added for ladies placed at the
entrance where the ushers can hand them out, or
leave a flat box with tissue (matching your
colour scheme of course) my answer would always
be yes.
Rose and thistle buttonholes are fab for
family members and the bridal party and can
easily tie in with the
flower packages and sale items always
available at a much reduced price.
And let us not forget the brides favourites her
tiara should sparkle and suit her face shape
her bridesmaids can easily wear a simple
hair comb, it is not necessary for them to
wear a
tiara too, perhaps some
diamonte’ jewellery for adults and children.
Remember the
tartan garter and
tartan decorated horseshoe it would be awe
inspiring if both of these items matched the
grooms kilt
Remember the
silver sixpence the bride’s father should
give her before the day begins (See
traditions page for the lovely story) |
